Article Writing Guide
The Journal of Modern Medical Communication is a publication of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences, aiming to promote the scientific advancement of scholars as an official channel for scientific communication between researchers. It publishes the latest findings in a quarterly format in Persian. In this quarter, articles are accepted in the following formats:

Please follow the required format when submitting your article. Articles that do not conform to the journal's format will not be evaluated.

Article Writing Guide
 
1. Article Structure
In organizing and writing the different parts of submitted articles, the following points should be observed depending on their type:
1-1- Original Research Articles
A brief and complete scientific report derived from research work. This type of article includes a title, Persian and English abstract, article text, tables, charts, and references, and is up to 5200 words. The study can be up to 5000 words if it is conducted qualitatively.
The article abstract should be structured (objective, methods, results, conclusion, keywords) and less than 260 words.
1-2- Review Articles
The structure of this type of article includes a title, Persian and English abstract, article text, tables, charts, and references, and is up to 5000 words. The abstract of a structured article is 300 words (objective, sources of information or data, methods selected for the study, composition of materials, results, conclusion, keywords), and the unstructured abstract is 260 words. In this type of study, at least 3 references must belong to the authors.
1-3- Short article
Similar to research articles with few research findings. This type of article includes the title, Persian and English abstract, article text, tables, graphs, and references, and is a maximum of 2500 words. The abstract of these structured articles is (objective, methods, results, conclusion, keywords) and is a maximum of 150 words.
1-4- Case report:
The findings of this research in this type of article are limited to a specific topic or case. This type of article includes the title, Persian and English abstract, article text, tables, graphs, and references, and is a maximum of 3000 words. The abstract of these articles is structured (background, case, conclusion) and has a maximum of 125 words.
1-5- Letter to the Editor:
Letters to the editor should be prepared with topics of criticism of previous articles, news, and new and valuable experiences. A review of an article will be accepted no later than two months after publication. The maximum length of a letter to the editor is 1000 words. The letter to the editor consists of the following sections in the order presented in the text: title page, text of the letter to the editor (may be presented in several sections), conclusion (optional), ethical considerations, thanks and appreciation, and references.
2. Article Components
2-1 Title Page of the Article:
• Title of the Article: The title should be short and clear. Words such as study, review, and time can be omitted from it. The title of the article should be written as a phrase, not a sentence. Also, avoid using abbreviations and acronyms in the title.
• Short title: It is an abbreviated title that is printed for use in the headers of the article (maximum 20 characters).
• Type of article: The type of article should be specified, including original, short, review (narrative, systematic), and case study.
Authors' details: For all authors, in Persian and English abstracts, the full name and surname should be numbered and mentioned without any type of title, including Ms., Engineer, Doctor, etc.
The academic details and organizational affiliation of all authors should be written in the same order as the names, as follows: academic rank, name of the field of study, name of the group, name of the research center or faculty, university, city, country.
In the English abstract, it is better to include the author's academic rank with the abbreviations MD, PHD, BS, MSc.
Example:
Specialized Doctorate, Health Information Management, Research Center ....., Group ......., Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences, Bandar Abbas, Iran.

PHD, Health Information Management, ……Research Center, Department of ……, Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences, Bandar Abbas, Iran.
2-2 Article Abstract:
• Persian Abstract: Objective, Methods, Results, Conclusion, Key Words
• English Abstract: Introduction, Methods, Results, Conclusion, Key Words
Note: To select the keywords that will be written at the end of the Persian abstract, use the specialized thesaurus related to that field for Persian words. To select the keywords that will be written at the end of the English abstract, use MeSH. It should be noted that proper nouns and technical terms do not require vocabulary control, and the same word can be used. Keywords should be between 3 and 5 words.
2-3 Introduction
• Statement of the problem
• Necessity of conducting the study
• Previous related research
• Justification of conducting the present study
• Research goal or goals
It is recommended that the number of words in the introduction should not exceed 1200 words.
2-4 Methods
Implementation method: Type of study, complete system specifications, research environment, population and sample, sampling method and sample allocation.
Data collection method and tools: Collection tools, method of tool development and design, validity and reliability of the tool.
Data analysis method: Statistical methods and software used, statistical tests used and their application.
2-5 Findings
The findings of the research should be expressed in the form of text, tables, graphs, images and maps with complete explanations.
The content presented in the text, tables and graphs, images and maps should not be repetitive.
Tables and graphs should be presented in a completely clear and correct statistical manner. Tables, graphs, images, and maps should have clear, concise, and concise numbers and titles, and should be appropriately referenced in the text. Table titles should be written above them, and the titles of graphs, images, and maps should be written below them.
2-6 Discussion and Conclusion:
• Mention the main findings of the study
• Description of the findings and their comparison with previous research
• Possible reasons for confirming or rejecting the findings of others
• Strengths and weaknesses of the study
• Description of unexpected findings
• Application of the findings
• conclusion
• Suggestions and limitations
2-7 Acknowledgements:
In this section, the author or group of authors can express their appreciation to individuals or institutions that have contributed in some way to the study or the preparation of the article, or provided financial support. (In Persian and English)
2-8 Ethical approval:
In this section, the code approved by the University Ethics Committee should be included. (In Persian and English)
2-9 Conflict of interest:
Authors should disclose all affiliations that may be considered as a potential conflict of interest. (In Persian and English)
2-10 Authors' contribution:
In this section, the contribution and responsibility of each author in the preparation of the article is expressed as a percentage.
Authorship should be defined based on the following four criteria (at least two of these conditions should be stated in the article):
a- Significant participation in the conceptualization or design of the study; or collection; analysis or interpretation of data;
b- Writing a draft of the study or revising and critically reviewing its intellectual content;
c- Final approval of the version to be published;
d- Declaration of agreement to be responsible for all aspects of the study to ensure that all questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work have been properly reviewed and answered.
2-11 Financial support:
In the event that financial support from a specific organization should be mentioned at the end of the title page. If no financial support is used, it should also be mentioned. (In Persian and English)
2-12 References and references:
For research articles, a maximum of 35 references should be introduced.
For review articles, a maximum of 60 references should be introduced.
Citations must be from the last 10 years.
All references must be written in English.
It is necessary to translate the specifications of Persian sources into English and include the phrase [In Persian] at the end.
References should be written following the Vancouver guidelines.
It is recommended to use EndNote software or other management software to organize and organize references.
References should be numbered in the order of use in the text and their specifications according to the examples provided, starting with number one in parentheses.
Article: Name and surname of the author or authors, full title of the article, abbreviated name of the journal, year of publication, issue and period of the journal, page number.
For Persian articles, the phrase [Persian] should be used at the end of the reference.
If the number of authors is more than 6, then use the sixth author's name in the et al phrase.
Capitalize only the first letter of the first word of the title and write all other words in lowercase (except for titles and abbreviations).

3. Notes regarding the text of the article:

It is necessary to avoid using foreign terms that have an exact and expressive equivalent in Persian. Only when required, the Latin equivalent should be written in parentheses before the word.

Digital Rectal Examination (DRE)

Names, terms, and names of foreign individuals should be given in English in the text of the article (avoid footnotes).

All percentages in the text should be written in letters. For example, 29 percent is correct and should not be written as 29%.

In Persian text, decimal numbers should be presented in Persian with a comma.

Tips for arranging and drawing tables, graphs, and images:
• Tables and figures should briefly state the findings.
• Tables and figures should be referenced in the order of their numbering in the text of the article.
• Tables should have a title (above the table) that explains the subject of the table.
• Graphs or figures should have a title (below the graph or figure) that explains their subject.
• Table cells should not be empty, and if they are empty, an adequate explanation should be given.
• Any unfamiliar words or abbreviations should be explained using a caption under tables, graphs, images, and maps.
• The number of images, graphs, and tables in an article is limited and should not exceed one. For every 1000 to 1200 words.
• Avoid repeating results in both table and graph form. Avoid presenting additional tables, curves, and images. For example, a table with only one row or a graph showing two statistical ratios is considered redundant because the information can be presented in one to two lines of text.
• If digital images are used, high-quality images should be used.
• Images should be clear enough that the findings mentioned in the title or text of the article are visible, and in cases where appropriate, they should be in color.

4. How to submit an article:
Respected authors can submit their articles online by registering on the journal website (http://jmis.hums.ac.ir).
It is worth noting that the following files are required:
a) With the names and characteristics of the authors
b) Without the names and characteristics of the authors
c) The article commitment form
d) Completed checklist
e) EndNote file
Reminder: The article commitment letter must contain the signatures of all authors. If one of the authors is not mentioned as the corresponding author, the sender of the article will be ready to respond to any issues arising regarding the rights of other authors and to respond to correspondence.

5- Article file format:
Articles must be typed in Word software in a single column according to the authors' guidelines without any page layout.
Font type and number:
• The text of the research article should be written in Persian font B Lotus No. 11.
• The Persian abstract should be written in Persian font B Nazanin No. 10.
• The English abstract should be written in English font Times New Roman No. 12.
• The line spacing should be 1.5.

6. Author's obligations:
The author(s) are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the article's contents, the order of the authors' names, responding to the research funding agencies if their names are not mentioned in the final section, and responding to any legal claims regarding copyright or content. • If ethical standards and the rights of research participants are not met, this journal will be excused from publishing the article.
• The authors of the article are responsible for responding to those whom they thank by name in the acknowledgements section.
• The article should not have been published in another journal or be under review when submitted to the Journal of Preventive Medicine until the final opinion is announced.
• If the article has already been published in English and its translation is sent to this journal, it must be informed by mentioning the address of the place where the English version of the Journal of Preventive Medicine is published.
• The publication of articles published in this journal in English-language journals is permitted with permission from both the Journal of Preventive Medicine and the destination journal.

7. How to review articles:
• The articles will be reviewed, critiqued, and evaluated by the Editorial Board. The Board is free to change and revise the articles, and at any stage of the article publishing process, there is a possibility of rejecting the article with the opinion of the Editorial Board.
• The articles received will be reviewed by at least two referees whose identities are confidential, according to the article evaluation checklist.
•The journal tries to inform the authors of the peer review results as soon as possible.
•The author is required to send his/her revised article to the journal office within two weeks of receiving the referees' comments.
•The author is required to highlight the changes in the revised article.
•After the proposed amendments are made, the article is reviewed again by the experts.
•As soon as the article is finally approved, a letter of acceptance for publication in the journal is sent to the authors.
: Printing fee
No fee is charged from the authors for publishing the article.
: Right to reproduce the material
All materials in this journal are protected by international copyright law. Any changes to the materials, reproduction, distribution, display, and publication of the magazine's materials are prohibited without prior written consent from the journal office. If the research and preparation of the article were carried out using an institutional research budget, the name of the institution and the project registration number should be mentioned at the end of the article.
