Aim: Intellectual property rights refer to the material and intellectual privileges that create many laws and standards in the international assemblies of many organizations. The present study aims to scientifically evaluate intellectual property rights in the Web of Science information database from its beginning until now.
Methods: This study was conducted by the scientometric method and analysis of documents published in the field of intellectual property in 2019. For this purpose, using related keywords, through advanced search in the Web of Science information database, 425,876 documents were extracted. Scientometric analysis and illustration were performed using Excel and VOS viewer software.
Results: The results showed that the publication of articles and documents related to intellectual property rights has an upward trend. This publication has increased from 4 documents in 1899 to 425876 documents in 2019. The largest number of documents were published in English and the United States was the largest producer of these documents. The most prolific author named ANONYMOUS with 4370 writings in this field, BMJ OPEN magazine with 4478 titles, is the core and prominent journal in intellectual property.
Conclusion: This study provides an overview of intellectual property rights in the Web of Science, which can be a guidanc and a roadmap for the audiences.
